Misfits in the Maelstrom
Nils Olav, God of Nature
Long ago, a Druid-Ranger by the name of Nils Olav walked the earth. He was a benevolent Druid who always fought for the benefit of the forest and its inhabitants. As he adventured with his fellows, his power grew, and so, therefore, did his ability to protect nature. As time wore on, he replaced the previous Druidic Heirophant and became the leading Druid on the continent of Cathonas. He was a well-loved leader of the natural community who never once let his accumulated power go to his head. Nils lived for many years, many more than was natural for a half-elf, and this is where the legends of Nils Olav truly began.
There were whisperings that the Druidic Heirophant of Cathonas was eternal. Challengers rose to replace him (as was the natural order of things), and not a single one succeeded in besting him for the position. Years passed, and the only thing that was seemingly permanent was Heirphant Nils Olav. One day, as his attendants came to check on Nils for the day’s duties, they could not find him. His oaken throne was empty, save for a small sapling wrapped around his three most valuable items: his scimitar, his khopesh, and his ring.
Many believe that the Gods were impressed by the dedication of Nils Olav to his ideals, and offered the Heirophant to join their ranks. Seeing the opportunity to do far more good for his beloved nature, Nils accepted and ascended to godhood, becoming Nils Olav, God of Nature. From his seat on high, Nils was able to keep an eternal vigilance over the forests and its inhabitants.
